Objectives

My objective is to promote the park and get more first time comers to avoid the threats posed by the local economy and to build them into repeat customers. Here are the different ways that I can make this happen.

1. Cross-Promotion with Other Parks

Because Cedar Point owns Canada’s Wonderland you can promote the parks and the season passes by saying that if you either buy the season pass on the Cedar Point’s website or at Canada’s Wonderland you can have the ability to go into either park. That might be enough to cause Canadian’s to come visit Cedar Point.

Also, Cedar Point could promote particular special theme weeks to Canadians. They would be theme weeks because we are focussing on first time vistiors from farther away. Cedar Point could promote a special week of discont prices to customers of Canada’s Wonderland and King’s Island. I would call them “Ride Birthdays” and it would be at the beginning of each summer. Here is how it would work. Because all of the major rides would have been opened on opening days in May, you could than have everyday of the opening week be different themes based on the themes for the different major rides, for example the first day could be Top Thrill Dragster themed, so everything is race car based.

People who buy season passes at Canada’s Wonderland or King’s Island would be sent information. Pamphlets would also be available at those parks. I don’t think this would cause Cedar Point to lose money in those other parks because season pass holders will have already paid.

2. Offering Reduced Prices on Hotels

If we have vacancies anyway, we could offer rooms at lower prices and promote them to customers coming from farther away (including Canada). People farther away are more likely to have not visited Cedar Point before.

3. Offering Shuttles from the Airport

Visitors flying to Cedar Point are more likely to be first time visitors.

4. Offer Other Discounts if Customers have arrived by Plane.

Customers who fly to Cedar Point spend a lot of money to come. If they can show Cedar Point they flew, then they would be offered a discount, like one free FAST LANE PASS. That would give them a great experience at the park for their first day.

5. Get First Time Visitors to Come Back

Visitors at the hotel could be asked if this is their first visit. When they check out, they could be given a coupon with a discount on their next visit. Maybe the discount would be another FAST LANE PASS. My hope is that this will make customers think of Cedar Point whenever they think of fun.
